I try to keep the summer boredom down to a minimum in this house so I don't go crazy! I decided yesterday to take my kids to a new splash park. You would think because it was new they would be thrilled to be there and want to stay forever...that wasn't the case. Kayden played in the water for about 5 minutes then did a lot of this....
Running around the outside.
Brooklyn sat right next to me and had a snack...go figure. She eventually got in after I took her hand and showed her it was ok. She loved it but only when I was standing right by here...heaven forbid this tired prego mamma sit down for two minutes.
Kayden found some friends to play with so then he lasted a little bit longer. (I am amazed at how easily he can make friends wherever we go. And he will talk about them forever afterwards & want them to come over and play)
Brooklyn after awhile thought it was just funny to run away from me to the park. If it hadn't been so hot & all the equipment scorching I probably wouldn't have minded so much but those chubby exposed legs were bound to get burned on a slide.
After only an hour Kayden was begging to come back home, and by that point I was ready too. Maybe they would have lasted if we brought along some friends. Maybe next time.
After lunch and a nap for some of us the kids helped me make pizza and dessert for Melissa and Kevin's little birthday party we were going to have.
They decided to get out the playdoh while I finished dinner but the playdoh we had was all hard so we made some new playdoh and the kids happily played with that for a long time!! I think this is the first time I have actually let Brooklyn sit down and play with playdoh. I've always been afraid of her eating it or the huge mess she would make but she did neither and was so content doing what Kayden was doing. This will definitely be an activity we do again soon!

That's a mean trick- when you go to the effort of leaving your house to sit in the Vegas heat, the least they could do is enjoy it for a full hour before running away. I'm glad to hear the play doh was a hit!
