We had to wait until our big tree was in before we could think about putting in any kind of grass. We had planned on doing seed but after we saw a killer deal on sod we decided to go with that. We went one night to pick it up but the nursery was all sold out of the sod. They told us we had to call early in the morning to reserve some so thats just what I did & Brock went later that night to get it. Brock put most of it in the back of our Tahoe but quickly realized he didn't have enough room for all that we had purchased. Luckily there was a guy there with a truck & was wanting sod (they were all sold out again) so Brock told him if he hauled the rest of our sod to our house Brock would give him some for free. Pretty trusting huh? Brock was worried the whole time that the guy would just drive off with our sod but he thankfully didn't and he got 10 pieces of our sod for free (and we got the rest of ours to our house).
It was a whole family project... as you can see we made Brooklyn push the wheelbarrow. Such a good little helper!!
I didn't get any pictures of Brock laying down the sod because I was too busy hauling it from the car to the backyard in the wheel barrow. Kayden loved helping lay it down and it quickly became a puzzle to him trying to figure out where all the rest of the extra pieces fit.
It was so hard to keep the kids off of it for two weeks, but once that mark was lifted we certainly wasted no time enjoying it! Before it got too hot the kids would play outside everyday, and especially enjoyed the sprinklers! It sure makes such a huge difference in our yard especially heat wise to have grass back there. It is so pretty now we all love it! Our backyard is now complete for a little while. We will eventually get filler plants and finish our side yard but that probably wont be until next year.
