Backyard part 1

Brock and I decided that we really wanted to get our yard done this year & since we had the money for it we went for it. We only had a bunch of dirt back there & we would never out there unless it was to grill up a burger. We got a few quotes from some companies in town but in the end we decided it would be better if we had Sheri & Mark to do it for us. (Brocks sister and her husband both are landscapers & they live in Idaho). They drove in early on a Friday morning & Mark got right to work getting the ground ready for our pavers. I was defenitly still in sick baby mode so I tried to be of much help as I could while they were here. I at least made some dinners and played with the kids a little bit. I wish that I had felt better so I could have gone out to get my hands dirty but it just wasn't happening.

Here are a few pictures of what our yard looked like before. We had a tiny little cement step outside the back door...then all dirt and lots of rocks!

Mark brought down lots of sand to put under the pavers. He put it in a huge pile in the yard and the kids loved playing in it!

The kids were great helpers putting the pavers down

Aspyn and kayden were great little buddies and had so much fun together while they were here.

And these two are only months apart and had a fun time together as well.

Saturday Mark cut the pavers and finished up the patio. (we special ordered these from California & Bryce helped us to get them here. They are so pretty we love them!)

On Monday we hit up the nurseries to get some color in our yard. Sheri's expertise is in plants so she helped draw up a sketch of our backyard of what should go where & picked out some plants for us. We bought a few bushes and fruit trees (orange, peach, and some grapes) and vegetable plants and then bought a big tree that was delivered three weeks later.

Mark helped us put in sprinklers so we could eventually put in grass. Brooklyn thought she could help Mark with her little red shovel. It was really cute to watch her dig with him.

Sheri relocated my garden (I do not have a green thumb so our garden was shriveling up due to our location)

We owe the Norlens a HUGE THANK YOU for coming all the way from Idaho to help us with our yard. We LOVE our new patio and greenery!! It has made such a difference back there. Now onto part two...the tree.
