Yesterday Tyler FINALLY moved out of the PICU (pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and was put on another floor of the hospital. He was in the PICU for a week exactly, and while he was in there I was reminded of a Friends episode. Tyler had 4 roommates that all came and left before he finally left which was a little frustrating. His first roommate was an older boy who we really didn't get to know. His second roommate was a little boy under the age of 2 who had a tumor in his lung area which had been diagnosed in utero. He was just there to get it removed. His third roommate was another boy who wasn't any older than 8 who had been in a bad car accident with his dad. He had a few surgeries during his short stay in the hospital. His name was also Tyler. He was a cute kid. His last roommate was a silly teenage boy who had jumped off the hood of a moving car. I didn't have much sympathy for him. He did some damage to his head and possibly ruined his chances of playing any more high school football. He was transferred to the floors about an hour before Tyler was, so all in all Tyler had 4 roommates who had all come and gone and Tyler still lay there. I thought of that Friends episode where Rachel is at the hospital in labor and going to have her baby. She shared a room with several other moms in the same situation yet they all had their babies before she did. They kept coming in and leaving before Rachel had her baby. I don't remember how many roommates she ended up having but she was pretty frustrated that she wasn't going anywhere. Funny thing...the day I was thinking about this I flipped on the TV and that episode happened to be on. Tyler is doing a lot better now and he should be able to come home within the next couple of days!! Yeah. He is in his own room now so its not as easy to see all those kids coming and going. Now that he is out of the PICU I kind of wish he was back in because there he had his own nurse and now he shares a nurse and I know he doesn't receive as much attention. We are never happy are we?
