We had the opportunity a couple weekends ago to go to Logan and pick some apples. One of Brock's coworkers was just mentioning to him one day that his family owns an orchard and they get pretty sick of picking apples by the end of the summer, so they let us come and pick some. We made a weekend trip out of it and stayed with some friends from college we hadn't seen in awhile. The Staheli's also gave us free reign of what was left in their garden so we made out with four big boxes of apples, raspberries, chili and green peppers, a ton of tomatoes, a little pumpkin they let Kayden pick, and some homemade honey. It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect!! This is definitely a tradition we have started in our family.
The orchard was enclosed so Kayden had a ton of fun just running around while Brock and I did all the work. Kayden is such a Grandpa's boy it was no surprise to us that he followed Mark around for awhile. On just the other side of the fence were some cows and Mark showed him how to pick up the apples that had already fallen on the ground and throw them over the fence to feed the cows. That kept him entertained forever.
Kayden did help us out a little bit at the beginning, but his three year old attention span didn't last long, and he was off to feed the cows again. (Plus that bag is half his size he really couldn't carry much!)
Of course he had to take a break and do what all little boys do best....water the trees.
