Mine Tour

A few weeks ago I had the awesome privilege to go on and FMC mine tour with Brock and one other employee friend of his. His wife was suppose to go too but she couldn't leave her baby. We got there bright and early and went over safety nonsense that is required before you go done. Then we got suited up in our finest...bright yellow vests, jumpsuits that look like Capri's on me, steel toed boots, helmets, belts with saving devices and our head lights. We looked ridiculous but were ready to go down. This mine is 49 square miles....it is huge and it is 1600 feet underground. It a good five minute elevator ride to get down there. The mine is a constant 70 degrees all year round so we got to leave all our winter wear on the surface. When we got down there we took a 40 minute jeep ride through dust and dirt to the destination of the long wall and that is about all i understood. I know the long wall breaks off pieces of Trona but all the other talk i don't understand. It was a once in a lifetime experience! So awesome.

Bubbling Methane

Don't we look cute....

Here we are on our jeep ride. We went through this tunnel for what seemed like forever. Most of it was lit but a lot of it we lit with our little head lights.
