If I could pick just one Christmas tradition to do every year it would be to cut down our own tree. There is just something about going out into the forest and picking just the right one versus going to Smiths to pick one out of a lot or pulling a fake one out of a box. I talked Brock into doing it again this year. We missed doing it last year due to being chickens because the previous year we had totaled our car with our precious tree on top! I had to be to work by 12:45 so we had to be back in time for me to change and head to work. We got up early and got ready and left our house by 8 which is amazing on a Saturday morning. We stopped at Sage Creek for some yummy warm cinnamon rolls to eat on the way. They were delicious!! We drove out to Mt. View and got our permit then headed for the Mountains. We bundled up the kids and took a nice walk to find the perfect tree! I thought I must be crazy to drag my family out when it wasn't more than 15 degrees outside. They were all a bunch of troopers and I thanked them many times for letting me do this! The pictures tell the rest of the story......

Our Journey begins....Kayden loved the cinnamon rolls. What a yummy treat. I can't make cinnamon rolls worth beans so we never eat them. (Melinda if you made these ones they were great! We should visit you more often!)

Tyler HATED the cold. We put him in this backpack carrier, and he cried forever. He lost a sock so his feet were cold. We finally ended up taking him out and we took turns carrying him all bundled up in his blanket. He finally stopped crying after we did this.

Brock carrying Tyler...can you tell he is so happy and so excited to cut down a tree?? His little tears were freezing on his cheeks.

Kayden absolutely LOVES the snow and had a blast on our little walk. He kept falling face first into the snow and laughing.

And heres the one. We found our Christmas tree. Kayden and Brock cut it down while Tyler and I oversaw the operation.

Kayden attempting to cut the tree down. He was good for about a minute then he had enough.
On our walk back to the tree Brock and I had to alternate carrying both the kids and the tree. Good thing it was a straight shot and not up a hill. We were only out for about an hour and our boys had definitely had enough. Kayden was excited to come back home and drink some hot chocolate.
Mr. Car (that's Brocks car name) what a trooper. We only had you to bravely carry our tree home. (We don't have a truck and we didn't want to scratch up our nice car so we all piled in this one. I thought we looked pretty funny)

We had a lot of ornaments around the bottom of the tree for awhile. Kayden really enjoyed putting it up and decorating it. This is such a fun age!

And the finished product. I love it and it looks perfect in our little home!

What a funny story. It reminds me of "Christmas Vacation" when Aubrey's eyes get frozen shut while the Grizwald's are searching for the perfect tree.
