Last Friday I had another doctors appointment in Salt Lake. It was just a normal checkup but this time I had a stress test, ultrasound, and checkup scheduled. The last time I had gone in I had a stress test and the doctor scared me a little because they told me if Tyler didn't pass the test I would have to deliver him, so this time I wanted Brock to come with me....just in case. We also wanted to go to a sealing on Saturday in Logan, so it worked out perfectly for Brock to come with me. We left early Friday morning to make it to my 9:30 am appointment with only a few things packed for the two days we would be gone. The car ride was a little difficult because the few days prior I was having a lot of contractions and Friday was no exception. I was just glad I was going to an appointment. I had my stress test first and the nurse noticed that I was obviously having a lot of contractions (but they weren't hurting) so she went and told my doctor. They had me do the ultrasound next, and then my doctor came in to talk to me. She told me that Tylers head had gotten too big, and that a c-section was our only option to get him out. She then walked us over to the Labor and Delivery area so that a nurse could monitor my contractions and they could check to see if I was dilated. Things started to progress really fast after that. My contractions were coming non stop (and they were really hurting by this point), and I was dilated to a four. The nurse then took me to a pre-delivery room got me all set up to stay there for awhile. They tried to give me pills to stop the contractions several times but it didn't work. They couldn't give me an epidural just yet because they wanted the contractions to stop so they gave me another pain medicine but it only worked for a little while. I was very uncomfortable and a little nervous. At four o'clock the doctor came in and said that we needed to deliver him because the contractions just weren't getting any better. Tyler G. was born at 5:09 pm on Friday night. He was 6 pounds 9 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long. He was a pretty good size for being almost six weeks early. The doctors whisked him away right after he came out. He was put into the NICU. After I was sewn up and back into my room Brock got to go down and see him. He could only bring back pictures....I had to wait to see my new baby. I finally got to meet Tyler three hours later. He stayed at the U of U until Monday and then was moved over to Primary Children's Hospital. On Wednesday he had surgery to remove some fluid from his brain. We came home on Wednesday for a couple of days to get some clothes and prepare a little better. We did not pack any extras because we thought we would be back Saturday night. Grandma and Grandpa Ellis had to bring clothes for Brock, and they went out and bought some clothes for Kayden. I just got to wear a lovely hospital gown for a couple of days. Tyler sure is a strong little boy and has been through so much already. We haven't been able to hold him yet, we can only sit by his bed and touch him. As a mother this has killed me the most. I look forward to the moment when they can finally place him in my arms. I told the nurses that they won't be able to pry him away from me when that time finally comes. Everyday he gets a little better, and we hope that we can bring him home soon. We are so glad that he is here with us. I am recovering good and am so grateful for all of the help, love and support that we have received. It is really weird to come back home without a baby in my stomach or in my arms. We can't wait to get back to his bedside tomorrow.
Brock all ready to go.
Brock brought me back this picture of Tyler. This is right after he was born.
Kayden got to meet Tyler Friday night. He wasn't really too sure about him, and he just wanted to touch his eyes. I think he is just a little confused about the whole baby brother thing. We keep talking about Tyler, but he's not here with us, so I often wonder what Kayden thinks.
This is Tyler on Sunday. I thought he was so cute on his stomach.
Tyler got to ride in this as they "life flighted" him over to Primary Children's Hospital. (They really just wheel him over a bridge because the two hospitals are connected. It's the life flight team that transports him) We got to follow right behind him

We miss you Sarah, Hope you come home soon with that sweet little boy.
First of all... I didn't know you had a blog because Chad doesn't ever check his e-mail. Second of all. . . I didn't know you were pregnant let alone have had the second child. Look at us all in the loop.
Congratulations you guys! I hope your recovery goes well. Looks like he is a pretty big boy despite being early! Good luck!
