Shopping Cart Club

There is a reason why there is a buckle in the baby seat of a shopping cart, and there is also a reason why there are pictures of kids falling out of the shopping cart.... because it really can happen!!! Kayden hates sitting in the cart, and if i try and buckle the buckle he usually squirms enough that it ends up around his neck or something. So I usually only put him in there and I don't do up the buckle, because sooner or later I end up carrying him (usually about 10 minutes into our shopping trip.) Now that Kayden knows how to walk if i put him down he will wander off. So he puts me in a dilemma every time I try and get out of the house (and there aren't many options here in Rock Springs, especially in the winter). Yesterday while out we became part of the shopping cart club. Not particularly something i am proud of, but I joined all of those other moms who have turned their back for a second and the next thing they know their child has fallen out of the shopping cart, and they are lying on the floor screaming. I put Kayden in the back part of the cart hoping he would sit down and play with the items in the cart like he usually does, but instead he decided to lean over the cart and fall out. I felt like the worst mom in the world, not to mention all the embarrassment I felt while everyone stared on at my screaming child. I am sure there is an award out there for worst mom in the world, and I felt I deserved it yesterday. Luckily Kayden was ok, and got over it fast, but the next time we are out we just might rethink that buckle, and you should too!!

I am SO SORRY!! I am glad the little tyke is ok! Poor thing...You know, just do the buckle thing, eventually he'll just get used to it. Spencer HATES it, but he's going to just have to get over it! BTW, you are NOT a bad mom! Accidents happen...

Sarah- welcome to the club. I am sure that every mom has or will get that award. I have been there too and it is so sad but in a few days maybe months you will laugh.

Yes, welcome to the club. The other day Ethan was leaning over the cart to grab something and he started falling and he was like a cat hanging on for dear life! Luckily I saw it just in time, this time anyway!
