I guess we got a little too comfortable with the idea that Ty didn't need surgery because we found ourselves back at Primary Childrens this week. On thursday night Ty was having such a hard time breathing. He had not woken up at all all day. His little body was working overtime just to breath. We decided at 9pm that we couldn't do a thing more for him so Brock took him to the Rock Springs ER. They really couldn't do too much for Ty but intibate him and lifeflight him to Salt Lake. I called a friend to watch Kayden and I ran to the hospital to be with Brock while Ty was in the OR. We sat for awhile and then were able to go back and be with him. It was so nice to see him finally comfortable and able to breath. We waited until 2am for the lifeflight team to come from Salt Lake. It took them awhile to hook him all up to monitors. Ty and I took his first ambulance ride out to the airport. We boarded a tiny plane and flew to Salt Lake where we took another ambulance to Primary's. We got to the hospital around 4am. They got him setteled and comfortable and I answered a million questions and told his life story to several people. They ordered several blood tests to see if Ty had any sort of sickness. They all came back negative and they ruled out phnemonia. They figured he had some sort of viral thing going on. Brock went and got Kayden and the drove that night and met me at the hospital at 8am. We let Kayden see Tyler and we joined all the Dr's and nurses for rounds then we went to my sisters for some much needed rest. We have not found many answers since we have been here due to the fact it is the weekend. (We never time this right and end up always waiting through the weekend for any answers). Tyler is stable and somewhat comfortable. They are hoping that by giving Ty a few days any swelling or sickness he had will be a little better. He will go to the OR tomorrow afternoon with the ENTs to be excabated and to have his throat scoped to see if there is anything that needs to be done. They tried to take out his tube on Friday but Ty couldn't tolerate it. So here we sit and sit some more. We could not thank my sister and her family more for the constant help they give our family. They always give us a place to stay with meals and babysitting. This would be so much harder if we didn't have them and I know that while Brock and I are with Tyler, Kayden is in good hands and is having lots of fun with his cousins. So with the title of this post here are just a few of Tylers firsts in life:
*First trip to the Rock Springs ER room, or any ER room for that matter.
*First ride in an ambulance (and we got two in one night)
*First time being lifeflighted in a plane, and hopefully we will never have to do that again! (this was not Tylers first lifeflight because when he was just a few days old he was lifeflighted from the U of U to Primarys which really consists of a short walk between the two hospitals. Don't ask me why they consider that to be "lifeflighted").
*We also discovered yesterday that Tyler has his first little tooth that broke through. I thought teeth were never coming...he is almost 2.
Unfortunatly this is not Ty's first time in the PICU but hopefully the Dr's can figure out what is wrong fast so we can get out of here and on our way home soon. I was so excited to spend the rest of summer at home and not travel anymore but oh well what do you do.
