A daunting task

I don't know why but I've always had a hard time doing my 72 hour kits. It's a huge daunting task! I always am in the mindset that when I do them once they are done forever but we all know that my kids grow so I really need to upkeep them. The last time I updated them was when Kayden was around Tylers age. Tyler didn't have a bag and I think out of all of us he needs one the most because he can't eat with his mouth. So this last week I did it. My deadline was Monday night. I researched online how to put food together and also what to put in our backpacks and also in an emergency binder. It took a long time. Monday Ty and I went shopping for food while Kayden was at school, then all afternoon we opened each bag and added to them. We made Tyler a bag and put all his essentials in it, like feeding tubes and medicine. It was hard to do with Kayden he really was no help at all and made the task that much harder but he enjoyed doing it with me. It really took all day. Then for family home evening that night we talked about being prepared and what an emergency was then we put all of our food together. I was so proud of myself that I got it done. Now I won't even have to worry about them for 6 months...the food a year. I hope we never have to use them, but if we do we are prepared.
Sitting on all the bags. Kayden thought it was so fun to help me and find out what was in each bag. He also thought it was cool that he and Ty had their own.

All done

Packing our food. Don't they look happy

Kayden always gets goofy when i pull out the camera.

I know it doesn't look like much but I have also been slowly working on our food storage. I LOVE the extra space we opened up under our stairs. Brock put some shelves in for me and I have happily filled them up. I love when Smiths does their caselot sale two times out of the year. I always stock up.

That is great you got it done! I would love a few tips. I had mine done then kenny went on a hike and took them all apart. Jayda doesn't have one either. Hopefully this summer!

You inspire me! (remember that we were going to do these together?!) I'm glad you got yours done. I'm hoping to do ours in the near future, but I think I need you living closer to help remind me that I really NEED to do them!
