California Part 1

Every summer I try and make it back home to California with my kids. This year was no exception. Unfortunately Brock was not able to join us this time. My dad turned 50 in May so we decided to go and surprise him for his birthday. We left on Mothers Day and drove to Salt Lake to spend the night. The next morning we got up bright and early and got back in the car only this time adding Melanie and Addy with us. We drove and drove and drove all day. 12 hours later with only one stop for lunch and another bathroom stop for miss prego (the kids didn't get out) we made it to my parents by 6pm. The kids were AWESOME all day. They watched lots of movies and played with new toys and books and ate lots of snacks. We had a wonderful two week stay. We were excited to finally be out of the car and more excited to see grandma and grandpa!! All of my family were able to get together...well only the girls, the husbands couldn't come. We did something everyday we were there, and here is the proof of our many adventures. These pictures are not really in any particular order...

My sister Melissa met Tyler for the first time. He still has one more uncle to meet!!

For my dads birthday we took him out for ice cream and gave him a web cam. We are not able to visit him that often so we thought this would be a good idea for him to still be able to see the grand kids more often. We have yet to see him use it, but for a good reason (minor problem...now we need a web cam...hopefully soon!!) The kids thought it was so fun to go out for ice cream. They sure did make a mess of everything but we had a great time all being together (minus my mom..she wasn't feeling well)

Kayden and Addy should start their own bussiness. One squirts while the other one irons. I was ironing one day and Kayden wanted to get out the play iron and help me. They were so cute working together!

One Saturday we were there we went to a park in the mountains that had a little steam train that you could go on. Kayden is in love with trains so we thought he would really enjoy this. The kids were a little nervous at first, and didn't budge at all while we were on it (which was good because it only comes up to your thighs) but afterwards they talked about it forever and for days after. I am so glad we did it.
Waiting for the train to come pick us up

One the train

The weather was pretty nice while we were there so we broke out the kids swimming suits and let them play in the sprinklers. Addy enjoyed it a lot more than Kayden did.

My mom threw my dad a surprise birthday party up at the interstake center in Oakland. (its on the temple grounds) My dad works on the tech crew and helps with the lighting and sound board for the different shows they put on there. He has made a lot of great friends there so we made some yummy food and got a cake and threw him a party. Happy Birthday Dad/Grandpa.

Tyler and mom enjoying ourselves at the party.

How fun. It is so nice to see family. Even better when you don't see them very often.
