These last 3 weeks have been a crazy life changing whirlwind! After the wedding I was so excited to clean my house and then lay low for a week before the baby came. I was so busy with the wedding and getting my house in order for the masses of guests I had stay here I had not even packed a hospital bag or gotten out any baby clothes. Monday I cleaned and took a LONG much needed nap. I was finishing out the afternoon by enjoying the beautiful weather outside while watching my kids play. I was about to make dinner and then had planned on crossing some of those things off my to do list that night. That all changed when my water broke! I started to panic just a little because I really was not prepared at all. I called Brock to see where he was (thankfully he was about to pull up to the house from being at the gym). I then started calling around to find someone to take my kids. My water broke with Kayden and he came soon after that so I knew we needed to get to the hospital fast. I took a shower, packed the kids a small bag (which was lacking in a lot of things) and we were out the door.
When we got to the hospital they didn't hurry me along until I told them I needed a c-section and quickly because my water broke. They hooked me up to the monitors and right away noticed that the baby was in distress. Originally they were going to have me wait 8 hours before they were to deliver the baby (I really don't think that I could have held on that long, but since I had eaten just a few hours before they didn't want me throwing up in the operating room) but since she was in distress my doctor came down to the hospital right away. It all happend so fast we didn't get any pictures. My doctor delivered her super fast. All I remember about lying there was that the doc & anethesiologist were talking about 20 year high school reunions and beer...lots of beer. I had felt the whole pregnancy that I was having a girl, so when it was announced we had a girl I really wasn't surprised at all. She went off to the nursery and Brock went with her while I got stitched up. I got put in a room & Brock left to get a hospital bag packed for me. The nursery didn't bring baby into me for a few hours so I just chilled by myself & watched some TV. It was crazy to think that just a few hours before I was pregnant.
On the way to the hospital I called my mom to tell her what was going on, and she hoped on the next flight down. She arrived to the hospital around midnight to meet baby girl. She stayed for a few hours and then came back to our house to sleep.
After school the next day Kayden got to come meet his sister. He didn't know he had a sister until Brock picked him up from school and told him. He kept saying "I don't know why it is a girl". He really wanted a brother. After awhile he was OK with a sister, and just wanted to hold her.
I love the sweet quiet moments in the hospital I get to be alone to just snuggle with my baby. I think she was only in her crib a handful of times & most of those was when the nursery needed her. The rest of the time she was being cuddled!
My mom brought Brooklyn to the hospital later that day to meet sister and I thought she wouldnt even last 5 minutes but she was instantly in LOVE with this little girl. She kept giggling and smiling and saying "baby". We let her hold her & she wouldn't let go. She would get super mad when someone would take her away.
Gotta love the hospital shots in the lovely gown. I definitely look drugged up here!!
My mom couldn't find any of Brooklyn's hair elastics so she came up with this hair do. She looks like an 80s child!
My hospital stay was pretty short. Not even 48 hours and we were home. Brock and I had hardly talked about names it was just so difficult with this baby. The other 3 we had their names picked out months before they were born but this baby almost left the hospital without a name. We finally decided at the last minute we both liked Kenly. And I was in a wheelchair ready to be wheeled out of the hospital when we decided on Michelle for a middle name & then we handed over the birth certificate papers. (Just a side note I asked Brock a few years ago if he liked the name Kenly and he vetoed it pretty fast. That name wasn't even on my list for this baby but I remembered it at the last minute & thankfully this time around Brock liked it!)

congratulations! I can't believe they sent you home in under 48 hours after a csection! She's beautiful!
Babies do seem to work on their own time frame! I'm glad all went well :) Tim has packed my hospital bag every time, I don't seem to get around to it before my water breaks either. In fact, he would like me to pack it right now- come on, 28 weeks is a LITTLE early for that... I think she is a beautiful baby and I'm so happy for you!
She is so adorable, just like your other kids! I am glad everything went well with her delivery. That is crazy that your water broke, I don't even know what that would be like at all :)
Congratulations!
