The longest day ever!!!

Sorry this post is so long...read it if you want. I just wanted to write down our experiences.


Kayden and I are fortunate enough to be in California right now visiting my family....but the journey to get here was a long one. We left on Thursday...EARLY!!! My appointment at the University of Utah was at 9:45 in the morning, so we left our house by 6:30. On the way we got a call from Chris saying that Melanie was sick so she couldn't take Kayden while we were at the hospital. So with no other choice but to take him, we did. The whole place is under construction so we were a little late trying to find out where to go and where to check in. The whole appointment took more than 3 1/2 hours, but Kayden was amazing!!! He pretty much had to sit and be quiet and not touch anything. I didn't bring in any snacks because I didn't think we would be more than an hour, and he got sick of the toys in my bag real fast. After my appointment we didn't get lunch until 2 o'clock (that is real late for Kayden and for a pregnant mommy). After lunch we drove around and found a park where we could take naps in the car. Brock was suppose to drop me off at Melanie's house so we could stay there until we went to the airport together, but since she was sick Brock was a little obligated to stay with us all afternoon. We went to Wheeler Farm and walked around and saw all of the animals, went out to dinner, and then Brock eventually dropped us off about 6 pm so that he could drive back home (our flight wasn't until 9:20pm). Kayden and I played in the playground area, walked around a lot, got a treat, watched the airplanes come and go and then found out Melanie was feeling better and decided to keep our flight and she came with Addy to the airport. Kayden was so excited to have his cousin there. They went crazy together running all around the airport squealing and having a great time. (I believe he is figuring out that I can't run after him as fast and i used to). Once we FINALLY got on the plane (I was really done with the day by this point) and we were ready to go, the door flew back open, and the captain came on the loudspeaker and said that an airplane in the midwest was struck by lightening and that we had to take a detour pitstop to Las Vegas to pick up these passengers. (Our flight was suppose to be nonstop to Oakland). I wanted to cry. We were suppose to get into Oakland at 10:30pm, but with the added pitstop we were going to be an hour and a half late, not only inconvienencing us, but my dad too who had to come and get us at midnight. Luckily Kayden slept the whole way. Melanie was not so fortunate with Addy who screamed most of the way. I was so glad to be home when we finally got here (at 1 am) and we were pretty lazy on Friday from being so tired. Thursday was one of the longest days ever, but I am so grateful for how patient Kayden is. I couldn't ask for any better. We are having a great time in California. We miss Brock like crazy, but he will be joining us this weekend. I will be posting pictures soon of our adventures here.
