Glen Canyon Dam and the Grand Cayon (our story continues...)

On the tour

Here we are on the Dam

Kayden and Addy at the Visitors Center (Notice the clothing difference between them, one is dressed for summer, the other for winter)

On Wednesday morning we got up early, packed up the car again, and headed down to Page Arizona. My sister Melanie and her family drove down with us. It was only a six hour drive but with a hungry pregnant women and two small kids it turned out to be a little longer. Brock did a little research before we left and found out that Page had a Dam, that he wanted to go see, so we decided to stay the night there and not closer to the Grand Canyon. This ended up being our favorite part of the trip so I am glad we did end up staying there. We got there too late to go on a tour on Wednesday, so we signed up for one early Thursday morning. We stayed at the Best Western which wasn't exactly the BEST, we had a few problems with them, and their continental breakfast consisted of fruit loops and toast. We got up early to go on our Dam tour which was so fascinating. Kayden enjoyed sitting in the backpack looking around. We went down inside the Dam with a tour guide who was full of information, and we learned a lot about the area and where all that water goes. After our tour we packed up again and headed down to the Grand Canyon. My sister and I thought it would be fun to take our husbands there because they had never been before. It seems a little silly to me that you have to pay $25 to get into the park just to look at a huge hole (unless you are planning on staying and camping for awhile, then it might be worth it). The Grand Cayon looks like a big painting. It is so beautiful and pictures just don't do justice. Once we stoped and looked at it though we were ready to go, and pretty sick of sitting in the car. We went and ate an expensive lunch (which we now joke that we only went to the grand Canyon to eat and expensive lunch), walked around some more, and then hit the road to make it to our final destination, Pheonix.
